Aizawl, September 5th, 2024 – The Mizoram Remote Sensing Application Centre (MIRSAC) has officially launched its new website and Data Order Portal, aiming to provide easier access to information, space application services, and critical data for its users and the public. The launch event was held in the conference room of the Directorate of Science & Technology, MINECO, and was inaugurated by Pu K. Lalrammuana, the Principal Scientific Officer of the Directorate of Science & Technology.
In his opening speech, Pu K. Lalrammuana emphasized the primary objective of launching the new website and data order portal: to deliver reliable, remote sensing and GIS-generated data to users directly from their homes or workplaces. He noted that the initiative is not merely a publicity effort for MIRSAC but rather a step towards enhancing the accessibility and utility of geospatial information derived from cutting-edge space technology tools.
“The purpose of this new website is to empower users with easy access to reliable data and information,” Pu K. Lalrammuana said. “It aligns with the Central Government’s ‘Ease of Doing Business’ policy, which aims to empower grassroots users through accessible, reliable data. This initiative also provides valuable assets to the government, enabling informed decision-making through scientifically scaled data.”
The Data Order Portal, which is the main component of the newly launched website, hosts a comprehensive repository of scientifically generated geospatial data. Users will need to create an account on the portal to conduct transactions and download data directly from their homes or workplaces. This step is aimed at simplifying data access for researchers, scientists, policymakers, and the general public interested in leveraging geospatial data for various applications.
The newly launched website and Data Order Portal were designed and developed by SIRUK, an indigenous software start-up based in Aizawl. At the launch event, Pu Zoramthara Fanai, Chief Operating Officer of SIRUK, demonstrated the website’s main functionalities and how users can navigate the Data Order Portal. The website’s user-friendly design and intuitive interface were highlighted as key features that would facilitate easy access to MIRSAC’s valuable data and services.
MIRSAC officials believe that the new platform will significantly enhance the accessibility of remote sensing data and space application services in Mizoram and beyond. The centre has invited all users, including government departments, research organizations, private firms, and the general public, to make the best use of the platform.
Interested users may visit the new MIRSAC website at www.mirsac.mizoram.gov.in and access the Data Order Portal at data.mirsac.in.
The new initiative marks a significant step forward in Mizoram’s journey towards digital transformation in geospatial data access and space application services, providing a robust tool for research, development, and informed decision-making.
