National Space Day was celebrated at Champhai with a program organized by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), the North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), and the Mizoram Remote Sensing and Applications Centre (MIRSAC). The event aimed to promote awareness of India’s space achievements and the benefits of space technology. The event saw a large turnout of around 200 students from across the region.
The program was graced by the chief guest TBC Lalvenchhunga, Adviser to the Chief Minister, . Bharat Kumar GVP, Scientist/Engineer G from ISRO, delivered a comprehensive talk on the “Indian Space Programme.” His presentation covered the history, key missions, and future goals of India’s space endeavors. Following his talk, Dr. Rocky Pebam, Scientist/Engineer F, Bhavsar, from NESAC, delivered a talk on “Space applications for societal benefits.” He explained how satellite technology and remote sensing are used to solve everyday problems directly benefiting the public.
Scientists held an interactive session where students had the opportunity to directly engage with the scientist and ask questions about space exploration and related careers.
Quiz competition was also held, which tested the students’ knowledge on various topics related to science and technology, reasoning, Current affairs and General Knowledge.
The celebration served as an important platform for students and the general public to learn about the significant contributions of India’s space program and its relevance to their daily lives. The presence of senior scientists and a prominent government official highlighted the importance of space science for the region’s development.
